Your first visit to The Malouf Eye Clinicss establishes a vital foundation for our relationship with you. During the first visit, we make sure to obtain important background information, like your medical history, and give you time to get to know your doctor. Your first appointment with us will involve a comprehensive eye evaluation, including a detailed examination of your retina.

What to expect

Your first appointment with us will involve a comprehensive eye evaluation, which may include a detailed examination of your retina.

You will have eye drops applied to your eyes. Some of these drops dilate the pupils and allow Dr. Malouf to easily examine the retina. It takes at least twenty minutes for the eye drops to take full effect.

Please set aside at least two hours for your initial consultation. If additional tests are required, your visit could be longer.

Please Note: The dilation of the pupils can affect your vision for several hours after the procedure, especially in bright light, so remember the following:

• Make sure to bring sunglasses.
• We strongly recommend that you bring someone with you to drive you home.
• Avoid activities that require perfectly-clear vision until your eyes are back to normal. Photography of your eyes may be required. This procedure takes approximately twenty minutes. Dr. Malouf will discuss the results with you.

Fees and Insurance

Your health insurance plan is likely to cover most professional services performed in our offices. For your convenience, we will be happy to file a claim with your insurance company. We accept Health First and most other insurances. If you have questions concerning your coverage, please contact your insurance company. Although each patient is responsible for payment of fees, we will make every effort to consider your individual circumstances.
